Mass Effect 3 hits 890,000 sales on first day, 3.5 million shipped worldwide

Mass Effect 3 landed in stores last Tuesday March 6th, every gamer on the planet looked forward to getting their hands on this game, specially when it got so huge after the amazing promotional campaigns. Now EA is saying that they have sold over 890,000 copies of the game in North America, within the first 24 hours.

“In North America first day, so the first 24-hour period, we sold through 890,000 copies by our estimate. That’s a 24-hour period in one geography. So that’s a good start. It isn’t frankly – we sort of anticipated it would do well, so it’s doing really well. So we’re happy. It’s not a negative bit of news. It’s a positive bit of news.” CEO of EA, John S. Riccitiello said in a conference

Sure its a big milestone, but considering all the sales records of other games like the Modern Warfare 3 which sold 6.5 million copies in the first day, this is not really a big deal. I was really hoping to see a record-breaking sales from this game, specially when it was anticipated by so many gamers worldwide. EA says that 3.5 million copies have been shipped to worldwide stores and they are waiting to see more improvements of the sales.
