Solar-Powered Boat Completes Around The World Trip

After taking a trip around the world, travelling 37,286 miles in about 19 months, the world’s largest solar-powered boat, MS Turanor PlanetSolar finally made it back to the home shores in Monaco. This giant 98-foot long boat has managed to break four Guinness world records in the course of its trip.

PlanetSolar started the journey on September 27, 2010, packing 537 square meters of photovoltaic panel power and six giant lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. It has cost about 12.5million euros to build this boat. It has become the first solar powered boat to travel all the way around the world.
