Audi R18 E-tron Hybrid And R18 Ultra Race Cars Wins The First Race
Audi introduced two new race cars yesterday, Audi R18 ultra and the new hybrid race car R18 e-tron, in the Spa Six Hour race. Both of these quattro cars tackled head-to-head on the race. But the diesel-powered upgraded R18 ultra won the race 46 seconds ahead of the R18 e-tron hybrid.

R18 e-tron now holds the record as the first diesel-electric race car in history. With the front-wheel-drive train this car managed to give a great competition in the race. Audi’s two new cars managed to dominate the Spa-Francorchamps racetrack all through out the qualifying practice and the race day. At the end of the qualifying practice, Audi team took the first four places with these two cars.
- 1. Capello/Kristensen/McNish (Audi R18 e-tron quattro) 2m 01.579s
- 2. Bonanomi/Jarvis (Audi R18 ultra) 2m 02.093s
- 3. Fässler/Lotterer/Tréluyer (Audi R18 e-tron quattro) 2m 02.232s
- 4. Dumas/Duval/Gené (Audi R18 ultra) 2m 02.705s
- 5. Prost/Jani/Heidfeld (Lola-Toyota) 2m 04.232s

This race has only provided a little practice for these cars to prepare for the upcoming big event, Le Mans 24 Hours. Although considering these results we can predict the race to end up just like this one.
