Awesome Qumarion Mannequin Visualizes Actions In 3D Video

Two new university firms named SoftEther(University of Tsukuba) and ViVienne  (The University of Electro-Communications) have teamed up to develop an awesome new robotic technology that manipulate actions of a robotic mannequin  called The Qumario, which mimic every move of the mannequin into a 3D CG model.

Qumarion uses the QUMA technology, which basically uses the 32 sensors on 16 joints of this mannequin to send signals to the computer via  USB at 120 fps that generates the move exactly similar in 3D video. Watching the video below will give you a simpler idea about this technology.

This new system is not entirely brand new. Technologies like these are already being used in developing special effects in movies like Avatar. But the idea of giving it to a mannequin is kinda cool. It will be even better if they could develop an action figure or toys using this technology, giving us a chance to easily give life to those toys or characters.
