16-year-old Indian Boy Solves Newton’s 350-Year Old Math Problem

Meet Shouryya Ray, 16-year-old Indian-origin schoolboy from Germany who solved the 350-year-old math puzzle that even Sir Isaac Newton couldn’t solve.

According to Wikipedia,  Sir Isaac Newton was the most renowned English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian, who has been “considered by many to be the greatest and most influential scientist who ever lived.” Despite all those title’s the genius himself had some mathematical problem that he couldn’t solve. Some of those problems still remains unsolved after over hundreds of years, leaving the most intelligent mathematicians in mystery. But this young boy has just solved two fundamental particle dynamics theories which would allow scientists to explore more areas in physics.

‘I think it was just schoolboy naivety. I didn’t believe there couldn’t be a solution,” said Ray after his amazing discovery.

For me maths is like poison. I can’t even imagine getting near a mathematical problem. Too many X’s and Y’s. But this guy says he’s been enjoying the ’intrinsic beauty’ of maths since his childhood. Now imagine what this boy would solve in just couple more years?
