Anonymous hacker group really had a serious issue with Facebook for a long time. They repeatedly threatened the social network few months ago that they would take down the network very soon and most analysts claimed that its impossible for them to hack Facebook because the server system was too large. But just a couple of days ago things got a little out of hand when Facebook servers went down for more than 11 hours and all the people turned to the famous famous hacker group, putting the blame on them.
Everyone thought that Facebook went down for good, specially after seeing some tweets from the Anonymous Twitter account. Even the term ‘RIP Facebook’ started trending on top of Twitter. But after a while Facebook stated that they are back online and people can access the network again. That’s when people started to blame on the hacker group for the attack. But recently they have released an statement saying that they are not responsible for this attack.
“This morning it was reported by many mainstream media outlets that Anonymous had attacked the servers of Facebook and caused interruptions in service in a number of countries. We have investigated these allegations and have found them utterly false and without basis.” Anonymous explained in their statement
This has already caused a lot for Facebook specially its never great to have these kind of problems during the IPO stock exchange. After this attack Facebook stock went down -1.63 (-5.51%) to 27.97.
