Facebook The Crime Network, 12,300 Crimes Are Linked To The Site

Latest reports are now showing how everyone’s favorite social network, Facebook is turning out to be a network of criminal activities. According to the latest research data released under freedom of information laws, over 12,300 crimes are in some ways linked to Facebook social network and every 40 minutes new Facebook-related crime is reported to police.

Sadly these are not really about some ordinary offensive posts or copyright violation pictures. These crimes actually involves our everyday life in the real world. Facebook has been referenced in thousands of investigations for murder, rape, child sex offences, assault, kidnap, death threats, witness intimidation, fraud as well as harassment from Cyber-Bullies. These are only the research data of the Facebook related reports collected from half of police forces in England and Wales. Imagine the number if we consider all the reports from around the world.

Facebook is surely a great way to find friends, connect and have fun. But in the meantime we must realize that some of those people are just waiting to catch their prey. There are millions of pedophiles, thieves, hackers and criminals out there inside the Facebook network of over 850 million users. Without even knowing, you might also have some of them in your friends list too. Be aware of the people whom you connect with and take pre-cautions not to expose your personal life in public, because we already know how that ends up. Recent incidents gave us good examples for that . Facebook says that they working with the police to bring criminals to justice. I think it actually starting to work the other way around.

Do you agree? Is Facebook really a place that increase crime? Share your thoughts in the comments.
