It’s that time of the year again when we take a look back at the top 10 things released throughout this year. So, to get things started, I decided to list the top 10 best selling games that we got to play in 2013. With the launch of next-generation gaming consoles, this year will be an unforgettable year for all the gamers.
The list contains the top sellers in PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms. They are ranked according to the amount of copies each game has sold across the globe.
Shipping over 29 million copies all over the world and scoring a record-breaking $1 billion in sales, Rockstar Games made a fortune with its’ sequel to the most successful video game series, GTA V. Even though it was only released for Xbox and PlayStation, the sales for this game went over the roof within a day after its’ release. PC gamers are still anxiously waiting.
Latest title of the most popular FPS series, Call of Duty: Ghosts grossed about $1 billion to take the 2nd position in this years top selling games list. However, Electronic Arts was disappointed to see how the game failed its’ expectation as it wasn’t sold out hot like Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Bringing back the football frenzy, EA’s released the new FIFA 14 with amazingly impressive graphics and gameplay. It was a massive success to the company. According to records, the game has sold over 3 millions copies so far.
This was one of the few titles that gamers fell in love at the very moment it was released. With a great story and gameplay, as well as graphics, Last of Us stole gamers heart’s in the year 2013. It’s a shame the game was not played by many to rank this higher than 4th place.
Even though the game was released back in 2012, Call of Duty: Black Ops II sold a well over 2 million copies this year, increasing the total to nearly 11 million copies sold.
Xbox 360 version of the hit PC game, Minecraft also made to the top lists, selling nearly 2 millions copies.
The Tomb Raider reboot didn’t receive a great response from the gamers or the critics, although it did managed to sell over 1.5 million copies world wide.
The PlayStation exclusive slowly made its way up in the best sellers since its’ launch in March. With about 1.4 million copies sold, the game proved to be a hit among PS3 players.
One of the best games of the year, also my favorite of the year as well. It’s actually sad that only about 1.4 million gamers were able to experience this amazing game. You guys are missing out on the best game of the year, I’m telling you.
Even though Battlefield 4 was way better than COD:Ghosts, it didn’t receive as much hype as the Activision title. Since it was only released on October 31st, we should maybe give it some time.
